 In view of the vast research conducted by the scholars in recent years new facts have come to light about the advanced stage of the ancient Indian political institutions and culture. As a result, most of the books written by earlier European scholars have become out-dated and give only a distorted version of the facts. On the other hand, some of the Indian scholars have tried to glorify the ancient Indian institutions and culture.
